Chapter 579 Casual Chat, The City Lord Invites You
Chapter 579 Casual Chat, The City Lord Invites You
"Brother Lin Tian!" Zhang Tianya's voice rang out, brimming with excitement. "Haven't been in touch for a while. How have you been?"
"I'm fine. How about you?"
"It couldn't be better!" Zhang Tianya's voice was filled with barely suppressed joy. "Let me tell you, ever since you helped me improve my talent level last time, my life has been like heaven."
"Now when I'm grinding monsters, I can just stand in the middle of a mob and the monsters barely do any damage to me," Zhang Tianya said excitedly. "Before, I had to be very careful when pulling monsters, afraid of dying. Now? I can just charge into the mob, stand still and deal damage, and I don't even need to use health potions."
"That's good," Lin Tian said.
"It's more than good!" came the sound of someone slamming their hand on the table from Zhang Tianya's side. "When our guild runs dungeons now, as long as I tank in front, the DPS in the back row can do whatever they want without worrying about aggro shifting. The day before yesterday, we ran a level 45 dungeon, and the final boss only took away less than a tenth of my health in one hit. I just drank a potion and was fully healed. Before, that boss could kill me in two hits."
His voice grew increasingly excited, like someone who had been holding it in for a long time was finally able to vomit.
Lin Tian's lips twitched slightly.
"How's the guild doing lately?" Lin Tian asked.
"It's developing well." Zhang Tianya's tone became more serious. "Since my talent was upgraded and my equipment was updated, the guild has been developing better and better. There are many more people applying to join the guild. We recently recruited a batch of more skilled players who are all above level 35."
"What else is needed?"
"I don't lack anything, what you gave me is more than enough." Zhang Tianya paused, "By the way, how's it going on your end?"
"It's alright," Lin Tian said.
"Why don't you come to Luoxia City for a stroll? I'll treat you to a drink. There's a tavern around here where the owner brews a particularly fragrant ale; you should try it."
"After I'm done with this busy period," Lin Tian said.
"Okay, then be careful. Keep in touch when you have time."
"it is good."
Lin Tian had just turned it off when it turned on again.
"Boss Lin Tian." Li Weiwei's tone was much calmer than Zhang Tianya's, but it also carried a gentle tone.
"Long time no see," Lin Tian said.
"It's been a while." Li Weiwei nodded. "How have you been lately?"
"I'm fine. How about you?"
"It's alright," Li Weiwei said calmly.
Lin Tian was silent for a moment.
"By the way, you didn't get a Talent Advancement Stone in the second round of the Multiverse Conquest, so you'll have to wait until your talent advancement is ready."
"What a pity," Lin Tian said.
"It's okay." There was no hint of disappointment in Li Weiwei's voice; instead, she sounded quite composed. "Getting that piece in the first round was already a stroke of luck."
Talent advancement stones are indeed something that can only be encountered by chance.
"As for the talent upgrade, we can wait," Li Weiwei said, her tone devoid of regret, but rather carrying a calm and composed air. "Anyway, Crimson Romance is developing quite well right now, so there's no rush."
"How's the guild doing lately?" Lin Tian asked.
"Not bad." Li Weiwei's voice became slightly lighter. "The number of guild members has also increased considerably, with most of them joining after the last Interdimensional War."
"That's good."
"How about you over there? Still in Starmoon City?"
"Um."
"Please contact us more often when you have free time."
"Okay," Lin Tian said.
"Be careful," Li Weiwei added. "I have something to do here, so I'll hang up now. Talk to you later."
"it is good."
The communication went dark again.
Lin Tian returned to Star Moon City.
The sky had completely darkened, and the walls of Starmoon City glowed with a faint golden light in the night. One by one, the illumination runes on the walls lit up, extending from both sides of the city gate into the distance, like a string of lanterns hanging in the sky.
A night breeze blew by.
Lin Tian took a deep breath and was about to walk towards the courtyard when the guard at the gate suddenly stepped forward and bowed respectfully.
"Lord Lin Tian."
Lin Tian stopped and looked at the guards.
"The city lord has ordered that you come to the city lord's mansion."
Lin Tian's brow twitched almost imperceptibly.
He glanced at the guard, whose expression was serious and didn't seem to be spreading lies.
"Has the guide arrived?" Lin Tian asked.
The guard shook his head: "I don't know. The city lord only said to invite you over, and didn't give any other instructions."
Lin Tian nodded, changed direction, and instead of heading towards the courtyard, he passed through the city gate and walked along the main street towards the city lord's mansion.
As dusk fell, lanterns lit up one after another along the main street, their orange glow spreading across the stone pavement like a warm river.
Lin Tian crossed the main street and turned onto the stone-paved road leading to the city lord's mansion.
The two rows of roadside trees were bare, their branches swaying gently in the night breeze, casting interlaced shadows on the ground. The stone-paved path was long, and the stone walls on both sides were high; walking in the middle felt like walking through a deep canyon.
In the distance, the gates of the city lord's mansion were wide open, and the light from inside spilled out from the entrance, spreading a warm yellow halo at the end of the stone path.
As soon as the guards at the entrance saw Lin Tian approaching, they straightened their backs and stepped aside to make way for him.
Lin Tian stepped inside.
The fountain in the front yard was still spraying water tirelessly, the sound of which was particularly clear in the quiet night, like someone singing a monotonous lullaby. The koi in the pond shimmered silvery-white in the moonlight, slowly swaying their tails, not afraid of people at all.
The crescent moon and star emblem on the fountain base was shrouded in mist, and a layer of fine water droplets clung to the edges of the stone carving, sparkling like stars under the lights.
Lin Tian walked through the front yard and onto the corridor.
All the lanterns in the corridor were lit, their warm yellow light illuminating the blue brick floor. The carvings on the pillars flickered in the light, the star and moon patterns seeming to come alive, changing their brightness with his steps.
The lights in the council chamber were on.
The door was open, and the crystal chandelier inside emitted a bright light that spilled out from the doorway, covering the stone steps in front of it like a layer of golden silk.
Lin Tian walked up the stone steps and stepped over the threshold.
Inside the council chamber, an elderly man with white hair sat behind a long table, his hands clasped on the surface. In front of him was a cup of tea, now cold, with a thin layer of steam condensing around its rim.
The old man raised his head when he saw Lin Tian walk in.
Those cloudy eyes, dulled by time, now shone with a light that Lin Tian had never seen before.
"They've arrived," the old man said.
The sound wasn't loud, but it could be heard clearly in the spacious council chamber.
"We're here," Lin Tian said.
The old man didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "The guide has arrived. Meet at the teleportation array first thing tomorrow morning."
Lin Tian's eyes narrowed slightly.
finally come.
