Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World as a Skeleton

Chapter 282: The Crushing

Chapter 282: The Crushing

"Calamity-Class?! This... this violates every protocol of reality!"

Every one of the Anomaly's hundreds of eyes vibrated with a primal, systemic

terror. The aura radiating from Bochi wasn't just power; it was a higher-order

logic that induced a biological "Error" in the Entity's very core.

Bochi didn't bother responding to the pest's confusion. Its voice was flat and

authoritative.

"Shadow One."

The command had barely registered before the shadow at Sora's feet began to

undulate. A pitch-black silhouette surged from the ground with a velocity that

bypassed linear movement.

The Anomaly didn't even have the bandwidth to react.

The phantom was already at Sora's side, its dark arm wrapping around her waist.

Sora felt the world turn into a blurred strobe of light as her weight vanished.

The next micro-second, she was lying on the concrete ten meters behind Bochi.

Shadow One stood beside her, silent and unmoving, a sentinel of the Void.

"What—?!"

The Anomaly froze. Not a single one of its eyes had captured the extraction.

Sora, too, was struck dumb; her lungs were still struggling to restart after the

near-asphyxiation, and she could only gasp as she stared at the center of the

hall.

Bochi remained in its position, hands shoved casually into the pockets of its

Academy uniform, its wide-eyed, innocent smile unchanged.

"It appears the disparity in our parameters is... significant," the girl-avatar

mused.

The Anomaly finally snapped out of its stupor. Its child had been taken. Its

"Precious Investment"—the center of its parasitic love—had been snatched from

its grasp.

"RETURN... MY... DAUGHTER!!"

A piercing shriek, saturated with enough dark Od to shatter glass, tore through

the apartment.

The Entity discarded its human mask entirely. Its frame expanded with a

sickening squelch, flesh proliferating in a chaotic, cancerous mass. Hundreds of

arms erupted from its torso, and at the end of each hand sat a weeping human

face. The faces were a mosaic of the "Ordinary"—men, women, children—all wailing

the same scripted line in a dissonant chorus:

"GIVE HER BACK!" "GIVE HER BACK!" "GIVE HER BACK!"

The arms lunged forward like a flood of rotten tree roots, whistling through the

air. They bypassed Bochi, aiming directly for the vulnerable Sora. The sheer

kinetic energy behind the strike was enough to pulverize an armored legion into

meat-paste.

Sora's pupils contracted. She tried to move, but her physiology was locked in a

state of terminal fatigue. She could only watch the wall of reaching hands

expand in her vision.

Ten meters. Five. Three.

Just as the first hand was about to graze her skin, Bochi raised its right hand.

Behind its shoulder, space itself split open in a jagged, vertical seam.

In the next heartbeat, a monolithic obsidian arrow shot from the rift.

BOOM!

The projectile struck the Anomaly with the force of a falling star. The impact

launched the monstrosity backward, smashing it through three successive concrete

walls before pinning it squarely to a structural pillar in a room Sora had never

seen.

The reaching hands stalled mid-air, falling limp like puppets with severed

strings.

The apartment fell into a heavy, ringing silence. Sora stared at the scene, her

brain unable to process the data.

What was that? Where did the projectile manifest from? Why is there a spatial

fracture? How can a child wield the power of a God?

In the far room, the Anomaly thrashed against the pillar. The monolithic arrow

had punched through its core; black, oily ichor bled from the wound.

But it refused to succumb. It used its remaining limbs to claw at the concrete,

the sound of its nails against the stone a grating, ear-bleeding screech.

Methodically, agonizingly, it began to pull its mangled frame from the obsidian

bolt.

"KILL YOU!" "I WILL LIQUIDATE YOU!" "RETURN MY DAUGHTER!!"

The Entity's voice was a raspy, maddened shriek. As it slid free of the arrow,

its body began to bloat once more—growing even larger than before, its mass

pressing against the ceiling until the floor above began to buckle. Thousands of

new faces sprouted from its surface, weeping, roaring, and accusing the world of

its "Unfairness."

Bochi watched the Anomaly rise, a flicker of genuine surprise touching its

violet eyes.

"Oh?"

"A mere Tier 4 pest... and yet you possess such durable parameters?"

Hearing this, Sora nearly suffered a secondary heart attack. The 'flavorless

pest' you mentioned on the first day... was THIS THING?!

Bochi tapped its chin, its expression one of academic curiosity.

"If that is the case..."

"Let's attempt Auntie Lust's method of extraction."

Bochi raised its hand again. This time, a microscopic point of black light

manifested in its palm. The mote expanded rapidly, taking the shape of a

miniature, violet-flamed skull.

The skull unhinged its jaw, letting out a silent, spiritual scream. The

concussive wave of mental pressure made Sora's head throb.

Then, it was launched.

The projectile moved with a deceptive, gliding pace. The Anomaly saw the danger

and prepared a tactical retreat, but the logic was flawed. In the next

micro-second, the skull manifested directly in front of the Entity, clamping its

jaws onto the creature's primary mass.

The more the Anomaly thrashed, the deeper the skull bit.

The Entity used its hundreds of arms to batter the skull, trying to dislodge the

parasite, but every blow landed with a dull, useless thud. The violet skull was

absolute—it felt no pain, it knew no fatigue, and it didn't stop drinking.

"NO!" "STOP IT!" "I ONLY WANTED A DAUGHTER!" "I ONLY WANTED AN OBEDIENT CHILD!"

"WHY DOES NO ONE UNDERSTAND ME?!"

The Anomaly's voice grew thin and pathetic. Its gargantuan mass shrank visibly

as its Od was methodically siphoned away. Finally, when it had been reduced back

to the size of a standard human woman, the biting ceased.

The energy skull let out a spectral belch and drifted back to Bochi, dissolving

into a cloud of shimmering violet motes.

The Anomaly slumped to the floor, terminal. Its frame was a ruin of cracks and

leaking fissures.

Bochi walked over. Its gait was light, as if taking a stroll through a park. It

stopped before the broken Entity, looking down with a detached gaze.

The Anomaly lifted its head, using the last of its logic to stare at Bochi with

a pleading intensity.

"Please..." it rasped. "Return my child... I only wanted a family... a

submissive, perfect family that would never deviate... Is that request... so

irrational?"

Blood-red tears leaked from its sockets, carving dark tracks through the grime

on its face.

Bochi knelt, extending a finger to poke the Anomaly's forehead.

"Do not waste my bandwidth with your 'Feelings' talk. I am a Slime. I do not

subscribe to your narrative errors."

Bochi stood up and extended its right hand. In its palm, a massive,

sapphire-blue vortex manifested, rotating with a hungry, gravitational pull.

[Authority: The Devourer] ignited.
